There has been much speculation and rumor mongering about some kind of iPad release in the Fall timeframe. Lately these rumors have revolved around an updated display. But what if the real story behind a Fall release is an iPad that like the new iPhone will work on the networks of T-mobile and Sprint?
After all, if they work out the issues for the iPhone how much more will it require to add the new tech to the iPad? This update makes the idea of an interim iPad release quite viable. It opens up a new market for the iPad in time for the Holiday buying season while preserving sales for the next generation iPad in early 2012.
Apple could release the new iPad along with the iPhone or simply announce it at the same time with a 2-4 week ship date following the announcement. Sprint has already marketed a 3G solution for the iPad with their Hotspot devices and found a good increase in sales of the service/device. An iPad that can connect directly to their network would boost their bottom line even more.
